CQ Combat

CQCOMBAT started as an Aikido fansite when I took up Aikido last year - when Larry Marin told me he was starting a martial arts clubs based on real life techniques, it was easily modified to the simple layout that Larry requested:

This is first and foremost a self defense club, not a traditional martial arts school. The school uniform will consist of workout pant, a school t shirt and a light martial arts or wrestling shoe. The reason for this is to keep the training as realistic as possible; no one walks around day to day in bare feet and pajamas so why would you train in this fashion.

Secondly, we try to stay away from any typical structure such as martial arts forms, regular testing (which can get costly at traditional schools) or scheduled belt promotion.

Students progress at their own pace without pressure of competing with the person next to them.

Finally, as the instructor is starting formal classes after years of teaching privately and also due to the nature of the material, classes will be restricted to teens and adults.

www.cqcombat.com is powered by Drupal Version 7 and initially based on a bespoke theme modeled on the Acquia Slate theme. Core modules include WYSIWIG, CCK, GMAP, LOCATION, XMLSITEMAP, VIDEOS, FAQ and many more:

Aikido Land website

Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art founded in the early 20th Century by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969).

Aikido

After mastering classical styles of Judo, Kendo and Jujitsu, he developed Aikido - a defensive martial art based on spiritual teachings. Although, there are now many varying styles of Aikido taught throughout the world, the basic principles remain the same.

The force of any attack is controlled and diffused by using avoidance and balance breaking followed, if necessary, by techniques including a range of strikes, locks and throws.

Aikido is considered to be a 'graceful' martial art, and is extremely effective. It focuses on poise, control and movement rather than raw strength so it is an excellent art for a large range of people.

Aikido is taught in such a way that you can learn at your own pace, anyone can join an Aikido class with experienced students safely, as they wont have to face fights or sparring. The true nature of Aikido is harnessing the attacker's power, strength and momentum and using it against them by means of natural circular and evasive movements.
